The screen that hides itself
The headline is not a spec number but a trick no other phone has: a built-in Privacy Display. Switch it on from the Quick Panel or with a double-press of the side button, and the screen hides itself from anyone looking over your shoulder — the whole display, or just selected apps, incoming notifications, and PIN, pattern and password entry. It is the kind of feature that sounds like a gimmick until you have typed a banking password on a crowded train.
Underneath it is a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display at QHD+ resolution with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and a 2,600-nit peak brightness, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. Armor Aluminum frame, 7.9mm thick, 214g, rated IP68. Samsung calls it the slimmest Ultra yet — a full millimetre thinner and 14g lighter than the S25 Ultra.
Cameras: wider apertures, two telephotos
The change that matters most is the main sensor’s aperture: the 200MP wide camera now opens to f/1.4, which Samsung says lets in 47 percent more light than the S25 Ultra’s main camera. Around it sit a 50MP ultra-wide at f/1.9, a 50MP telephoto at f/2.9 with 5x optical zoom and 10x optical-quality zoom, and a 10MP telephoto at f/2.4 with 3x optical zoom. The front camera is 12MP at f/2.2 with a new AI image signal processor for more natural skin tones, and zoom reaches 100x with AI-assisted Space Zoom.
What this adds up to is range: an ultra-wide for landscapes, a 3x for portraits, a 5x for anything distant, and a main camera that should hold detail after dark.
Performance and battery, honestly
The chip is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, which Samsung rates at 19 percent faster CPU, 24 percent faster graphics and 39 percent faster AI processing than the S25 Ultra, cooled by a vapour chamber Samsung calls its largest ever on a phone. Storage is 256GB or 512GB with 12GB of RAM, or 1TB with 16GB. The software is Android 16 with One UI 8.5 and Galaxy AI, including Now Nudge and Photo Assist.
The battery is 5,000mAh, rated by Samsung at up to 31 hours of video playback, and Super Fast Charging 3.0 takes it to 75 percent in around 30 minutes. Those are Samsung’s lab figures, and the 5,000mAh capacity is unchanged from the S25 Ultra — the gains here are efficiency and charging speed, not a bigger cell.
Pros
- The Privacy Display is genuinely new — no other phone hides its screen from shoulder-surfers at the press of a button
- A 200MP f/1.4 main camera with two telephotos gives the widest shooting range of any phone at this price in India
- The fastest Galaxy chip yet in the slimmest, lightest Ultra body Samsung has made, with the S Pen still built in
Cons
- At Rs 1,39,999 it costs Rs 52,000 more than the standard Galaxy S26, and most of that premium buys cameras and the Privacy Display
- The 5,000mAh battery is the same capacity as the S25 Ultra, so all-day life depends on efficiency gains rather than a bigger cell
- The top 1TB storage needs the 16GB RAM tier, making it the most expensive configuration by a wide margin
CompareIdea verdict
Buy the Galaxy S26 Ultra if you want the most complete Android phone on sale in India — the camera range, the Privacy Display and the S Pen in one device, at a price that has held at Rs 1,39,999 since launch. If the cameras are not the reason you are spending this much, the standard Galaxy S26 at Rs 87,999 keeps the same software and Galaxy AI for Rs 52,000 less.
