Apple MacBook Air (M5)
Our verdict:
Apple - On sale now. The MacBook Air (M5) is the MacBook for a buyer who wants a thin, silent laptop with long battery: an M5 chip with a 10-core CPU and up to a 10-core GPU, up to 18 hours of battery, a 13.6-inch or 15.3-inch Liquid Retina display at 500 nits, Wi-Fi 7, and a fanless design, with 16GB of memory and a 512GB SSD in the listed model. The trade-off is the fanless design and the storage: there is no fan for sustained heavy work, and 512GB is the entry storage in the listed range. At $1,139.00 at Amazon.com, checked 2026-11-04, it suits a buyer who wants a light MacBook for everyday work and travel; a buyer who wants sustained performance and a brighter, more capable display should look at the MacBook Pro 14-inch (M5) instead.
