The ASUS Zenbook 14 (2026) went on sale in India yesterday, 5 November, and the first thing to understand is that it is not one laptop. It is three different machines sharing a name, a 14-inch Ceraluminum body and a 1.1kg starting weight — separated by Rs 57,000 and by screens that are not in the same league. These are our first impressions from ASUS’s official launch details. We have not hands-on tested the machine.
At a glance
- It is three different machines sharing a name, a 14-inch Ceraluminum body and a 1.1kg starting weight — separated by Rs 57,000 and by screens that are not in the same league.
- The cheapest model, the UX3480QA at Rs 1,36,990, runs a Snapdragon X X1-26-100 chip with a 50Wh battery and a 14-inch FHD+ OLED display that is not touch-sensitive and refreshes at 60Hz.
One body, three very different laptops
The cheapest model, the UX3480QA at Rs 1,36,990, runs a Snapdragon X X1-26-100 chip with a 50Wh battery and a 14-inch FHD+ OLED display that is not touch-sensitive and refreshes at 60Hz. It is the lightest of the three at 1.10kg, with a neural processor rated at up to 45 TOPS.
Pay Rs 20,000 more for the AMD model, the UX3480KA at Rs 1,56,990, and the screen stays the same size and resolution — but it gains touch and stylus support, and the Ryzen AI 7 345 chip steps neural performance up to 50 TOPS. The battery is the same 50Wh, the weight is the same 1.10kg. You are paying for touch, not for a better panel.
The Intel models are where the lineup changes character. The UX3480AA starts at Rs 1,67,990 with a Core Ultra 5 325, rises to Rs 1,75,990 for the Core Ultra 7 355, and reaches Rs 1,93,990 for the Core Ultra 9 386H. All three get the screen the other two models do not: a 14-inch 3K Lumina OLED touchscreen at 120Hz, with up to 1,100 nits of HDR peak brightness and full DCI-P3 colour, plus a larger 70Wh battery and Thunderbolt 4 — at 1.30kg, noticeably heavier than the other two.
Read the Intel price carefully
Some launch headlines describe Rs 1,67,990 as the price of the top-end Intel model. It is not. That is where the Intel range starts, with the Core Ultra 5. The Core Ultra 9 costs Rs 1,93,990 — a Rs 26,000 difference that matters, and one we called out in our launch report yesterday.
Everything else is shared: 16GB of memory, a 512GB SSD, Windows 11 Home with lifetime Office Home 2024, Wi-Fi 6E, an infrared camera, a backlit keyboard with a Copilot key, and fast charging that ASUS says reaches about 50 percent in 30 minutes. ASUS claims up to 33 hours of battery life, but has not detailed the test behind that figure, and the three models carry different batteries — so read 33 hours as a best-case claim, not a working-day promise. Financing starts at Rs 7,611 a month on No-Cost EMI for 18 months.
Pros
- A genuinely light premium laptop at 1.1kg in the Snapdragon and AMD versions, with a ceramic-feel Ceraluminum finish and military-standard durability testing
- Every model gets an OLED display, and the Intel models get a superb 3K 120Hz touch panel
- A clear price ladder — three processor families, five prices, no mystery configuration
- On sale now through ASUS stores, the ASUS e-shop, Amazon, Croma, Reliance Digital and Vijay Sales
Cons
- The cheapest model’s screen is a 60Hz non-touch panel, which feels basic at Rs 1,36,990 when the Intel models get 120Hz touch
- The 33-hour battery claim is untested and the three models have different batteries, so real battery life will vary sharply
- The Intel models are 200g heavier, and the top Intel chip costs Rs 57,000 more than the base model
CompareIdea verdict
The Snapdragon model at Rs 1,36,990 is the pick for most buyers: the lightest, the cheapest, and the one whose battery should last longest in real use. Pay the extra Rs 20,000 for the AMD model only if you want touch and stylus support on the same screen. Buy an Intel model only if you specifically need the sharper 3K 120Hz display and Thunderbolt 4 — and if that is you, the honest price is Rs 1,93,990 for the Core Ultra 9, not the Rs 1,67,990 starting figure.
