Karbonn is back in smartphones, and the Karbonn Rebel Pro is the model to watch: a 6.7-inch 120Hz display, a 64MP camera, a 6,000mAh battery and clean Android 16 for a launch price of ₹12,499. These are our first impressions from Karbonn’s official launch announcement — no hands-on yet.
Karbonn Rebel Pro display and design
The Rebel Pro gets a 6.7-inch HD+ LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 720 nits of peak brightness. That is a genuine step up from the standard Rebel’s 90Hz panel, and at this price a smooth 120Hz screen is the spec buyers will feel most. Karbonn also claims an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance — rare and welcome in the budget segment. Colour options are Cherry Red, Blue, Gold and Gray.
Performance: Helio G81, and it’s 4G
Both Rebel phones run the octa-core MediaTek Helio G81 (peak clock 2.0GHz) with 128GB of storage, expandable to 1TB via microSD. Set expectations honestly: this is an entry-level chip, built for calls, social apps, video and light gaming. And yes: the Rebel Pro is 4G-only. A separate Rebel 5G is coming later with specs and pricing still unannounced, so don’t buy the Pro expecting a 5G radio.
One caution: launch coverage disagrees on RAM — GSMArena lists 4GB while Gadgets360 reports 6GB. Treat the RAM figure as unconfirmed until the Amazon listing on sale day settles it.
Camera: 64MP AI shooter, 16MP selfie
The Pro’s headline camera is a 64MP (f/1.8) rear sensor with autofocus, backed by a 16MP front camera. Budget 64MP sensors live or die on daylight performance and processing — and Karbonn’s image processing is an unknown after years away, so this is the area we’d most want to test hands-on.
Battery and charging
A 6,000mAh battery with 20W wired charging — and the charger comes in the box, which is no longer a given. Expect the battery to stretch past a full day; the trade-off is that 20W tops up a big cell slowly, so overnight charging becomes the habit.
Software: Android 16, and a promise that matters
Both phones ship with Android 16 in a bloatware-free build, and Karbonn promises two years of major OS upgrades plus two years of security patches. If Karbonn honours that, it is the strongest card the Rebel Pro holds — clean, current software with a real update commitment is exactly what the budget segment usually lacks.
Price and availability
Karbonn lists an MRP of ₹14,999, but the price that matters is the launch price: ₹12,499, with a ₹1,000 bank discount bringing it to an effective ₹11,499. The first sale is on Amazon.in on 4 November 2026 at 12 noon IST (Amazon Specials). Prices announced 2 November 2026.
Pros
- 120Hz display and IP64 rating at ₹12,499 — genuine budget standouts
- 6,000mAh battery with the charger in the box
- Clean Android 16 with a two-year update promise
Cons
- 4G-only while rivals like the Moto G06 Power go 5G; Helio G81 is entry-level
- RAM figure disputed across launch reports
- Camera quality depends on unproven Karbonn processing
Verdict
The Karbonn Rebel Pro reads like a comeback done right: it leads with the specs budget buyers actually notice — a smooth display, a big battery and clean software. The 4G-only limitation is the real compromise, and the camera needs hands-on testing. But at ₹12,499 with a two-year update promise, this is a credible return.
