Samsung Galaxy S26 vs Google Pixel 11: $849.99 vs $699.00 — The New Samsung Against Google’s $699 Pick

Samsung Galaxy S26

Samsung’s newest flagship meets Google’s best-value Pixel, and the price gap points the wrong way. The Galaxy S26 costs $849.99 and the Google Pixel 11 costs $699.00, both for the 256GB unlocked model at Best Buy, both checked on 3 November 2026. The S26 launched on 25 February 2026 with Samsung’s newest chip; the Pixel 11 launched on 12 August 2026 with Google’s newest camera thinking. The newer Samsung costs $150.99 more. The question is whether it gives you $150.99 more phone.

This comparison uses only the published US specifications and the verified US prices. CompareIdea has not carried either phone for a week, and nothing here comes from using them. The verdict comes from the published figures and the verified prices, not from hands-on testing.

The prices, and what ‘Activate Today’ means

The money first. The Galaxy S26 is $849.99 for the 256GB unlocked model in White at Best Buy, and the Pixel 11 is $699.00 for the 256GB unlocked model in Obsidian. The gap is $150.99, and both phones are the same storage size, so this is a clean comparison. Both product pages also show monthly Activate Today prices — from $5.56 a month for the Galaxy S26 and from $11.67 a month for the Pixel 11, both with AT&T activation. Those are carrier activation prices, paid monthly through a carrier plan, and they are not the same as the unlocked prices. They should never be ranked against the unlocked prices as if they were equal, and they do not change the $150.99 gap between the two phones.

Cameras: the Pixel’s clearest win

The cameras are where the Pixel 11 pulls away. The Galaxy S26 has a 50MP triple camera system on the listed figures, with no telephoto detail published. The Pixel 11 has a 48MP main camera, a 13MP ultrawide and a 10.8MP telephoto with 5x optical zoom, plus a 10.5MP front camera. On the published figures, the Pixel is the only one of the two with a proper zoom lens, and for anyone who shoots at distance that is not a small thing — it is the difference between reaching the shot and cropping it. If your photos are mostly of people and places up close, the S26’s 50MP triple system will serve you well. If you shoot games, concerts or wildlife, the Pixel wins this section outright.

Displays, chips and battery: the S26 fights back

The S26 is not outclassed — it fights back on the core hardware. Its 6.3-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display runs at 120Hz, matching the Pixel 11’s 6.3-inch Actua OLED display, which runs from 60 to 120Hz at 1080 by 2424 pixels and reaches up to 3,000 nits. The S26 runs Samsung’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, the newest chip in this comparison, against the Pixel 11’s Tensor G6 with its Titan M3 security chip. On battery, the S26 lists 4,300mAh against the Pixel 11’s 4,985mAh — a gap of 685mAh in the Pixel’s favour — and both phones charge at modest speeds, with the S26 at 25W wired and the Pixel 11 at 30W wired, plus up to 25W wireless with Pixelsnap.

Software and support: the Pixel’s long game

The Pixel 11 runs Android 17 with seven years of updates on the listed figures — the longest support window in this comparison, and one of the longest in the US market. That matters more than it sounds: a phone you keep for five years needs updates for five years, and the Pixel promises seven. The S26’s listed figures do not publish a matching update promise in the US catalogue, so buyers who keep phones for a long time should weigh that carefully. A phone is not just the hardware you buy today; it is the software it will still be running in 2030.

CompareIdea verdict: the Pixel 11 for most buyers

Our pick is the Google Pixel 11. At $699.00 for the 256GB unlocked model in Obsidian at Best Buy, checked on 3 November 2026, it costs $150.99 less than the Galaxy S26 and gives most buyers more of what matters: a 5x telephoto camera, a 4,985mAh battery, and seven years of updates. The Galaxy S26 is the pick for one buyer only: the Samsung loyalist who wants the newest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip in the current-generation Samsung body and is happy to pay $849.99 for it. For everyone else, the Pixel 11 is the better phone and the better buy — and the $150.99 you save buys the case, the charger and a very good dinner.

What to check before you buy

Check the variant first: the $849.99 Galaxy S26 price is for the 256GB unlocked model in White, and the $699.00 Pixel 11 price is for the 256GB unlocked model in Obsidian. A different storage size or finish can cost more on either phone. Check both Best Buy listings before you buy, because the prices were checked on 3 November 2026 and can change. And if you are choosing between them, decide on the camera first: if you want a zoom lens and seven years of updates, the Pixel 11 is already the answer.
