CompareIdea exists to help you decide what to buy — and what to skip. These are the rules every piece of content on this site is produced under. If we ever fall short of them, tell us (see our Corrections Policy) and we will fix it in the open.

How we label our content

  • First Impressions — written from official specifications, launch information and pricing. We have not physically used the device.
  • Technical Analysis — based on documented specifications and independent evidence from reputable publications and databases.
  • Hands-on Review — published only after we have physically tested the device.
  • Long-term Review — published only after meaningful, extended usage.

We do not currently publish hands-on or long-term reviews, and we will never present spec-based coverage as if it were hands-on testing.

Scores

We do not publish numeric scores (such as 8/10) for products we have not hands-on tested. A score implies measured experience; until we can test a device ourselves, our assessment is a verdict in words — what a product does well, where it falls short, and who should buy it.

Confirmed vs expected

Confirmed information (official prices, specifications and dates) is always kept separate from expected or leaked information, and the two are never blended. An expected price is labelled expected, with its source — it is never shown as a retail price.

Prices

Every store price we show was checked on the retailer’s own product page and carries the date it was checked. Launch prices and street prices are kept distinct. A price we could not verify stays blank rather than guessed. Retailer prices change; the retailer’s checkout price is always final.

Independence

CompareIdea may earn a commission when readers buy through links on this site (see our Affiliate Disclosure). Commissions never decide our verdicts, rankings or coverage: we regularly recommend the cheaper product, and we say so when a product is not worth its price.

Corrections

Mistakes get corrected on the page, with the page’s “Last updated” date reflecting the change. See our Corrections Policy for how to report an error and how we handle it.
