Every price on this site follows three rules. They make our lives harder and our pages slower to update. We would not have it any other way.
Rule 1: The retailer’s own page, or it doesn’t count
A price appears on CompareIdea only if we have seen it on that store’s own product page — Flipkart, Croma, Vijay Sales, Amazon and the rest. Not on a price-tracker site. Not in a search snippet. Not in another blog’s table. If we cannot open the store’s page and read the number ourselves, the slot stays empty. This is why some products show fewer stores than you would expect: being listed somewhere is not the same as being verified.
Rule 2: Every price carries its date
Prices rot. A figure that was true during a festival sale is a lie a month later, so every store price we publish is date-stamped — “checked 31 Oct 2026” — and re-checked on a rolling basis. Launch prices are kept separate and labelled as launch prices, because a phone’s first price and its current price are two different facts (sometimes ₹30,000 apart, as our own data shows).
Rule 3: If the price isn’t announced, the space stays blank
Upcoming phones are surrounded by “expected price” guesses. We do not publish them as prices. When a product has no official price, its page says “Price not announced yet” — full stop. The Karbonn Rebel 5G launching on 2 November will get its price on this site the day Karbonn announces it, not a day of rumours earlier.
The honest limitations
Some stores block automated checking outright (Amazon currently shows our tools its “rush hour” error page), and some hide prices behind pincode prompts. When that happens we say so, leave the gap visible, and fill it through other verified routes — including, once active, the stores’ own affiliate data feeds. A blank cell with an explanation beats a confident number we never actually saw.
